Mya and Ren are back! They’ll bring the supplies and plenty of creative prompts to get you out of your crafter’s block. You’ll leave with your very own unique handmade journal. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

This time, we're partnering with Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF) to make zines recognizing domestic violence awareness month. Support from CPAF makes this event free to you!

What are zines? Zines are small, self-published booklets that explore and amplify a wide range of topics, such as art, culture, history, hobbies, and current social-political issues. They provide a platform to share your voice, diverse narrative, and experiences freely.

Sunday, October 13
Time: 11 am - 1 pm
At Nellita's Craft
Ticket: $0 thanks to the support by CPAF

Mya Takumi Worrell (they/them) loves all things zines and papercraft! They’ve facilitated all-age zine workshops at local museums, conferences, festivals, and online. If they’re not talking about zines, they’re probably talking about the mechanics of tabletop roleplaying games, the social construction of gender, or the visual language of comics.

Ren Kanoelani Markle (they/she) is a queer multi-ethnic artist of Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian), Taiwanese, and Japanese descent. Born & raised on Oʻahu, they are currently based on unceded Tongva lands (Los Angeles). Ren’s art focuses on their experiences and identities as a queer Asian-Pasifika person in diaspora.

Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF) was founded to help address domestic violence and sexual assault in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Their mission is to build healthy and safe communities by addressing the root causes and consequences of family violence and violence against women. They are committed to meeting the specific cultural and language needs of Asian and Pacific Islander women and their families.
