Intrigued about composting at home but worried about not having enough space or that it's going to be smelly? Learn 2 ways to easily compost without yucky odors even in the tiniest spaces: bokashi and vermicomposting (yes, it's worms!). This is a beginner workshop to start your own worm composting container or bokashi bucket in your apartment kitchen.
Instructor Valerie will give a deep dive on how to ensure composting success to reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle. At the end, you'll take home a starter kit to add to your own worm composting bin: worms, coco coir, and cardboard. At home you'll need a plastic bin (with a lid) at least 6 inches deep. Valerie will also answer all your most pressing composting questions and have lots of in-person hands-on composting examples and materials!
Saturday, February 7
10-12:30pm
Ticket: $45 per person
Valerie Morishige (she/her), sees gardening as a great way to connect: nature and nutrition, culture and community, movement and meditation. She currently teaches gardening (mostly fruits and vegetables) to elementary school students and is an avid vermiculturist. Her master's degree is in Nutrition and Food Policy from Tufts University and bachelor's in English from UCLA. Valerie believes everyone can grow something somewhere!
