Beginner Illustration: Pokémon - Saturday, 7/27, 11am-1pm

A Step-by-step beginner’s class for drawing Pokémon. Learn what makes Pokémon characters so memorable through their design philosophies while recreating Generation 1’s Pokémon. We will be drawing Pikachu, Snorlax, Squirtle, and more—starting with basic shapes to more complex theming or poses.

Materials provided. Just bring yourself!

Marcia “Angel” Cagandahan is a Los Angeles-based, Filipino-American Visual Development Artist and Illustrator. They graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2023, majoring in Animation and Digital Art. Angel’s main work focuses on their experience growing up in the Filipino-American community, with their thesis film winning the jury award in the Inaugural FilAm Creative Film Festival in 2023. They are especially inspired by traditional Filipino folklore, dance, and food. Currently—they’ve been doing freelance work for multiple film projects as a background designer, while being an elementary after-school art teacher in Echo Park. In their personal life—Angel loves collecting My Melody plushies, watching anime, drinking matcha lattes, and putting together Lego sets!
