Have you been able to take a pause this month? Do you think about crafting all the time, but can never find the time to *actually create*? Come make a zine with Mya and Ren! They’ll bring the supplies and plenty of creative prompts to get you out of your crafter’s block. You’ll leave with your very own unique handmade journal. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

What are zines? Zines are small, self-published booklets that explore and amplify a wide range of topics, such as art, culture, history, hobbies, and current social-political issues. They provide a platform to share your voice, diverse narrative, and experiences freely. We’ll have a zine library curated from Mya’s personal collection for you to look through at our workshop!

Mya Takumi Worrell (they/them) loves all things zines and papercraft! They’ve facilitated all-age zine workshops at local museums, conferences, festivals, and online. If they’re not talking about zines, they’re probably talking about the mechanics of tabletop roleplaying games, the social construction of gender, or the visual language of comics.

Ren Kanoelani Markle (they/she) is a queer multi-ethnic artist of Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian), Taiwanese, and Japanese descent. Born & raised on Oʻahu, they are currently based on unceded Tongva lands (Los Angeles). Ren’s art focuses on their experiences and identities as a queer Asian-Pasifika person in diaspora.
